Brian's Woodwork

A Trip through History

1972

Although tattered and well used, to the right is my first woodworking project.  I made it out of pine and stained to look like walnut.  This first production was done when I was twelve years old.  It was a gift to my father for Fathers' Day.

1972

To the left is my first wood lathe project.  Made from Alder wood and stained to look like Jacobean wood, I used it in my bedroom when I was twelve.  Today I keep it on top of a dresser as a reminder to where I learn my craft.

1988

To the right is my second wood lathe project.  Made from Honduras Mahogany I gave these to my mother as a get well and welcome home gift from the hospital.

1994

To the left is a secretaries desk.  I made this from solid red oak.  It features a fold out desk top with a flying mallard duck wood inlay from aniline dyed veneers.  Internally it has banker throws and a shelf.  Below the desk top is a porcelain knobbed pullout draw with sliding tray, and a small storage cabinet.

2000

To the right is a display of one of my hobbies.  Constructed from solid red oak fish tank stand,  I made this to support a 20 gallon aquarium and to keep all its' supplies.

2001

To the left is a solid redwood gardeners' potting bench.  It features a tool draw, removable top that has a soil basin.  Below are redwood seed boxes made from old growth California redwood.
